Ayous derives from the obeche tree - a large, deciduous tree that can reach heights of up to 50 meters, which is native to West and Central Africa.

Thermowood Ayous has gone through a treatment called thermos, so there are zero chemicals used, this creates the attractive dark brown finish over time. This can turn silver with sunlight, but the use of Osmo 420 UV-oil will help prevent this. There is also no need to treat the fresh cut ends of the timber.

Thermowood Ayous has a Class 1/2 durability and a desired service life of 60+ years.

Ayous timber is valued for its light weight, straight grain, and relatively uniform texture, making it suitable for various applications, particularly exterior cladding.
