The Thuja Plicata is grown this time within the UK. Again, it grows fairly quickly like its Canadian cousin. The main differences being the knot content due to British Cedar not being graded like Canadian is, and the colours differ largely due to the different soils.

Features

Durability
British Western Red Cedar is rated as Class 3, moderately durable. You can expect a lifespan of about 25+ years on this timber once on a property with no treatment.
Treatment
Cedar is naturally durable with no need to treat if you wish for it to weather silver naturally. We do recommend that you use Osmo 420 UV oil as this really pulls the grain out of the timber, whilst keeping its lovely tones.
Applications
British Western Red Cedar is extremely easy to work with, and nice and light to handle. In the UK it is mainly used for cladding. Stainless steel fixings are a must as any other fixings will leave grey marks running throguh the timber.
